Perry Van Over concentrates his practice in the life sciences with widespread experience in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, polymer chemistry, and surgical devices. He has significant experience providing non-profit, start-up, and large multinational companies with strategic intellectual property counseling and management and in developing and implementing successful patent strategies in the U.S. and in foreign jurisdictions. Mr. Van Over has obtained broad, commercially successful patents in molecular biology, immunology, pharmacology, polymer chemistry, and surgical devices, providing clients with critical patent protection leading to high value transactions and investments with third parties. He has successfully appealed cases before the U.S. Patent Office Board of Patent Appeals and Interferences and the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. He has participated in multi-party complex litigations and successfully led settlement negotiations for his clients with a large multinational corporation. Prior to joining Litman Law, Mr. Van Over practiced intellectual property law with Pillsbury Winthrop LLP and DLA Piper, both large multi-national law firms. While doing his graduate studies at George Washington University, he also served as a patent examiner with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. As a Marine officer, Mr. Van Over served as an aviator with the U.S. Marine Corps flying both jet and helicopter aircraft from land bases around the globe as well as aboard aircraft carriers.
